My Little Friends

I can't wait to bust out my Adventure Time costume so these little guys can make their DragonCon debut. Afterall they took a while to make.

First Awesome DragonCon Purchase

So it is finally the day I've been waiting for, DragonCon! Woo Woo. I'm getting ready to head down to Atlanta for the start of it. While there, I'll be sure to post pics of anything exciting or just completely ridiculous that I see. Boom Boom.

There's Nothing Like a Frisky Puppet

Debreifing DragonCon

I know that the past week or so I have blabbed non-stop about DragonCon. I could go on again about how it is one of the most ridiculous, fun times, but I won’t. I think I’ve probably already met that quota. Instead, here is a link to a really great podcast for anyone who would like to learn more about it. It’s called Debriefing DragonCon, and it is designed to provide information for first timers. Really though, there is plenty of info to be gained from it for people who have already gone before. Anyone who is interested, here’s a link to the site.

Back To School Time

Since it's that time of year I thought I'd try to get into the spirit a little. Lets be honest. One of the only exciting things about the start of the school year is getting to buy new stuff, and what's cooler than a super sweet trapper keeper?

I had this one when I was younger. Then I got a super cool Lisa Frank one.

My Beloved RoboPup

Is there anything better than having a super cute cyborg dog? I think not.

Four Days at DragonCon

Since I'm leaving tomorrow to start one of the best weekends of the year I thought I'd put up the first eight minutes of this awesome documentary PBS did about DragonCon.

Learning with Mr. T

I don't know if there is anything better than an education song courtesy of Mr. T

DragonCon Parade

One of the neatest parts of Dragon Con is the parade they have each year on the streets of downtown Atlanta. Thousands of people participate, dressed in their geekiest costumes. It's pretty awesome to see an area of Atlanta shut down the streets so thousands of nerds can strut their stuff. Here's a video that shows some of the things you might see when checking it out.

Game of Thrones, A Fan Art Tale

I was looking through some stuff earlier today and came across several neat fan arts for the show/book. Here are some of them.

Are You Afraid of the Dark

I think Are You Afraid of the Dark is one of those shows you watched as a kid and when you go back and re-watch it now still holds up. Sure it's bad, funny and full of red headed Canadians, but there is still something special about it. Just watching the promos for it makes me feel and warm and nostalgia-ized.

Dragon Education

Since it's almost Dragon Con time I figured getting a little dragon info wouldn't hurt.

And while I'm at it, lets learn about a few other friends.

Lego Slave Leia Is Coming for You

One of my goals in life is to successfully create every outfit worn by Princess Leia. Dorky, yes I know, but it makes me happy. The one outfit I was a little hesitant to do is the slave outfit. Nowadays there are HD cameras everywhere and most hotels have pretty unflattering lighting. It just isn’t something I’d want to wear in front of thousands of strangers. But then I got this idea, and well, it is one of my favorite things I have ever made. I wore it at the last two Dragon Cons, and it’ll be there this year for sure. Now if I could just manage to get my picture taken with a few regular slave Leias.

Douchy McGee

Last night I happened to catch an episode of Project Runway. It’s a good show to watch while you try to sew together costumes. I couldn’t get over just how douchy the contestant Ven is. The whole challenge centered around makeovers for “real women”. This didn’t necessarily mean plus size or anything. It just meant a variety of regular, everyday women. Ven happened to get a woman who was bigger than the average size 2, 5’ 11” model. The whole time he worked on her outfit he kept talking about how unfair it was that he got a bigger lady. He even repeatedly told her how all the accessories in the workroom were just too small to fit her. He said a lot of unflattering things to her face, and it was pretty awful. She was, after all, his client. His job was to not only make her look good but to also make her happy. In the end he managed to do neither. The thing that really baffled me is that Ven is no twig himself. He’s bigger than the lady whose weight he kept putting down. He needs to take a long look in the mirror and learn the value of thinking and not saying. Booo Ven.

D Con Parties

One of the best things about Dragon Con is the parties. The normally start around 10 or so, go for several hours and are followed up by concerts and crazy dance parties. Here are just of few of this year's parties to look forward to.

Friday
Apocalypto Disco
Zombie Prom - (one of my favorites)

Saturday
Heroes and Villains Ball
A Mighty Fine Shindig
The Last Party on Alderaan

Sunday
The Yule Ball

So many parties. I'll try to post pics from all.

Cause I Like My Fingers Stained Red

This makes me happy.

A Little Preview

This a is good video shot at last year's Dragon Con to give you a dose of what it's like there. It mostly focuses on the costumes, but you still get the point.

This is Real and It Will Be at Dragon Con

I saw this video earlier today and thought it was one of the greatest things ever. Not only is it super impressive that someone made this , but the idea is just too great. The creator said he's taking it to Dragon Con this year, and I will definitely be on the lookout for it.

7 Days and Counting

I know it has been a while since I’ve been on here posting anything, but all of that is about to change. One of the greatest occasions of the year is approaching, and I can’t help but blab about it. Dragon Con is one week away. It is by far my favorite convention of the year. Unlike Comic Con, Dragon Con isn’t industry based. It is fan run and centers purely around the fan’s experience. One of the greatest aspects is that it takes place in five hotels located in downtown Atlanta. Because of this the con doesn’t just end each day at 7:00. Instead is lasts from Friday Morning until Monday night. Each evening offers crazy parties and concerts that last until dawn. Also, there are bars everywhere. This is probably why many people refer to it as party con. Seriously, it is the most fun weekend out of any year. Thousands of nerds from all genres gather together to drink and have fun. Generally, I hate crowds, but here everyone is so excited and happy to be there that they are able to keep and crowd from being super annoying. Have I mentioned that I’m super excited?
